Born on April 29, 1938, son of the late Edward and Dorilda Gaudette, Russ lived a life of dedication to his family, his faith, his work, and his country. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1964. Following his military service, Russ worked at Plastic Wire and Cable, Pervell Industries, and the Griswold School System.
Russ loved nothing more than spending quality time with family and friends. Camping trips to places like Hopeville State Park, Fisherman’s Memorial, and Winter Island brought him great joy. He treasured family picnics, beach days, and holiday gatherings. In quieter moments, he found comfort at home, snuggling with his beloved tuxedo cat, Maxx.
Russ is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Doris, and his five children: Linda Gilchrist; Theresa Grabowski and her husband, Van; Dena D’Auria and her husband, Michael; Michael Gaudette and his fiancée, Jenna Schmeid; and Mark Gaudette and his wife, Amanda. He was a proud grandfather to Amanda and Corbin; Michele, David and Jessica; Calvin and Camrin; and Andrew. He was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren: Blair, Blake, Elanor, Silas, Sophia, Eila, William, Maggie, and Vinny.
Russ was predeceased by his sister, Lorraine Nelson.
Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Jewett City at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, followed by a military honors ceremony at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
