Diana S. (Hlastawa) Brunelle

Diana Susan Brunelle, age 73, of Lisbon, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2022 at Hartford Hospital. Diana was born in Southbridge, Massachusetts on September 17, 1948 to the late John J Hlastawa and Muriel M (Lavers) Hlastawa. She was predeceased in 2015 by her loving husband of 46 years Jack C. Brunelle. She was also predeceased by her brother Paul Hlastawa. She is survived by her daughter Heather Brunelle and her son John Brunelle, his wife Tracy, and John’s children Jesse and Jillian Brunelle. She is also survived by siblings Jay Hlastava, Holly Poreda, and Mark Hlastawa. 

Diana became a registered nurse and worked as an RN at the Norwich State Hospital and United Community and Family Services. As a RN, Diana provided many years of compassionate and dedicated service to the community. Diana enjoyed spoiling her pets with loving devotion and treats and also feeding and observing wild birds. Diana was a gifted and prolific knitter who blessed family and charities with her beautiful knittings. Diana lived the majority of her childhood and adulthood in Lisbon. She enjoyed spending many childhood days at the Rhode Island ocean beaches with her parents and siblings and continued this tradition with her daughter and son.  

A graveside service will be held within the Pachaug Cemetery in Griswold, CT at a later date.  Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home.
