Denise Mortimer Obituary
Lisbon – Denise Ann Mortimer, 61, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer on April 28, 2021 at the UConn John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington, CT.
She was the daughter of William & Gloria (Alba) Purcell of Stamford, CT. Denise was born February 22, 1960 in Stamford, CT. She grew up in North Stonington, CT and graduated from Wheeler High School in 1978.
Denise married her beloved husband Thomas on November 9, 1979 in Ballouville, CT. Together they owned Village Pizza Restaurant in Preston, CT for 35 years. Denise loved cooking and serving their many customers over the years. She was known for putting a smile on everyone’s face. She also enjoyed spending time with her husband, son, daughter-in-law and grandson and had a passion for animals, especially her cats.
Denise is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Mortimer and her daughter, Jillian Mortimer. She is survived by her son Thomas Mortimer, her daughter-in-law Ivy Tran and her grandson Aiden Mortimer. She is also survived by her sisters Deborah (Purcell) Napert, Doreen (Purcell) Lagace, Michele (Purcell) Umphlett, and Elizabeth (Purcell) Fleming and their spouses, and her brothers William Purcell, John Purcell, Thomas Purcell and their spouses. She is further survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 1:30PM at Pachaug Cemetery, Griswold. All who loved Denise are welcome to join.
