Delbert Lee Moore

Delbert Lee Moore, 70, of Griswold, Connecticut, passed away tragically on June 9, 2026, while doing something he loved—riding his motorcycle.

Born on June 4, 1956, in Hamilton, Ohio, Delbert lived a life marked by service, dedication, resilience, and a deep love for family, friends, and country.

Delbert proudly served in the United States Navy from November 1975 until his honorable discharge on November 30, 1995. During his twenty years of military service, he demonstrated unwavering commitment to his nation and carried that same sense of duty throughout his life.

Following his military career, Delbert worked as a Security Officer at Millstone Power Station for many years before retiring in 2021. He was respected by his colleagues for his strong work ethic, loyalty, and friendship.

Delbert was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Roberta Moore, and his Uncle Delbert.

He is survived by his father, James Moore; his devoted wife of 12 years, Diane Moore; his sisters, Patty, Mary, Gloria, and Rose; his daughters, Jessica Moore and Sheila Moore; and his stepsons, Nicholas Rice and Christopher Rice and his fiancé Kristin Gingras.  He also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and dear friends who will cherish his memory.

A passionate motorcyclist, Delbert found freedom and joy on the open road. He especially loved his Harley-Davidson motorcycles and his 2026 Indian Scout Bobber. He was an active member of several motorcycle clubs and frequently participated in charity rides, combining his love of riding with his desire to help others.

Delbert was also a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the American Legion. He was deeply patriotic and took great pride in supporting his fellow veterans and his community.

In 2024, Delbert faced one of life's greatest challenges and emerged victorious, courageously defeating prostate cancer. His strength, determination, and positive spirit inspired all who knew him.

At home, Delbert enjoyed the companionship of his beloved cats, Gunner, Taz, Cosmo, and Storm, as well as his outdoor cat, Buddy, who were cherished members of his family.

Delbert will be remembered for his generous heart, his sense of adventure, his love of family, and his unwavering dedication to those he cared about. Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, his memory will live on in the stories shared, the lives he touched, and the love he leaves behind.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
