Danny Kane Obituary

Danny L. Kane, 77, of Lisbon, CT, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on May 3, 1947, in Bar Harbor, ME, to Forrest and Theodora (Reed) Kane. Danny spent his childhood in and around Ellsworth, ME, before moving to Waterford, CT. He graduated from Waterford High School with the Class of 1965.

Danny dedicated over 40 years to his career as a butcher, working for various local grocery stores before retiring from Better Value. He took great pride in his work and was well known for processing deer and other game for local hunters each season. A U.S. Army veteran, he served from 1966 to 1968 as a truck driver.

In 1970, Danny met the love of his life, Christine (Brochu), while they were both working at Beit Brothers. They married in 1971 at St. Mary's Church in Jewett City and built a life filled with love, laughter, and close family bonds. Danny shared a special connection with his in-laws, many of whom became his best friends and neighbors.

Known as the family jokester, Danny was always the life of the party—often the first on the dance floor and the last to leave. His infectious humor and larger-than-life stories, some true and some exaggerated for effect, made him a cherished presence among his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

Danny had a passion for sports, playing softball and bowling in local “beer leagues,” where he formed lifelong friendships. His greatest pastime, however, was fishing—a passion he passed down to his children and grandchildren, creating countless memories on the water together.

Above all, Danny was known for his kindness and generosity, always willingness to drop everything to help a friend or family member in need.

Danny is survived by his loving wife, Christine; his daughter, Michelle Williams, and her husband, Jason, of Voluntown; his son, Kevin Kane, and his wife, Jennifer, of Griswold; and his beloved grandchildren, Tyler, Ashley, Fiona, and Logan. He is also survived by his siblings: Forrest “Tommy” Kane and his wife, Reanna, of Canon City, CO; Bruce Kane of Nalcrest, FL; Victoria McLean and her husband, Fred, of Preston, CT; Brenda Keegan of Canterbury, CT; and Ronnie Bookman and her husband, Tom, of Oakdale, CT. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who adored him.

Danny was predeceased by his parents; his stepmother, Constance (Wasgatt); and his sister, Julie Aumand of Kennebunkport, ME.

He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his warmth, humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends.
