Constance Chapman Obituary

Constance Joan Chapman, lovingly known as Connie, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on January 16, 2026, in New Smyrna Beach, FL surrounded by family.

Connie was born as the cherished, only daughter of Edna and Harold Baush. She grew up with a love of learning and creativity that would shape the course of her life and career.

In 1953, Connie married the love of her life, John R. Chapman, who preceded her in death. Together they built a life centered on devotion to family, community, and education.

Connie dedicated more than 30 years to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher. Her passion for teaching and her gentle encouragement left a lasting impact on generations of students and colleagues.

She is lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Cindy Piechowski (Warren Piechowski), Lynn Wile (Andrew Wile), and Deborah Chapman (Javier Ramirez). Connie’s greatest joy was her family, and she treasured her five grandchildren — Gretchen (Michael), Alexis (Mark), Tania (Kevin), Alex (Ashley), and Nick(Beverly) — as well as her eleven great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense pride and happiness.

Beyond her career and family life, Connie embraced many passions. She loved painting, traveling, scrapbooking, sewing, and countless creative pursuits that reflected her warm spirit and artistic heart. Above all, she cherished time spent with loved ones, creating memories that will be carried forward by all who knew her.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 15, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home in Griswold, CT.

Connie’s legacy of kindness, dedication to education, creativity, and deep love for her family will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
