Charlotte Geer

Charlotte Geer, 72 years of age, passed away on January 25th, 2025. She was the daughter of Barbara Bitgood Geer and the late H. David Geer, and was born in Norwich, Connecticut on April 26th, 1952. 

Charlotte was well known for her cherished bed and breakfast, Heavitree B&B, in Griswold, CT. She was an avid antiques dealer and collector. The main building of Heavitree B&B was originally a tavern in Rhode Island which she had moved and reassembled on her property adjacent to the Geer family homestead of Geer Tree Farm. She later opened the home as a bed & breakfast, as well as an event space, where she hosted countless celebrations and guests. Charlotte had a deep admiration for family history, and took it upon herself to collect information and artifacts connected to the Geer family. She maintained relations with Geers from throughout the country and played a key role in keeping knowledge and connections alive.

Charlotte was admired by all who knew her, and will be remembered for her vigor, determination, work ethic, care, and kind spirit. She enjoyed visiting with friends, watching movies, and eating great food - her favorites being popcorn and chips with hot salsa. She was a huge fan of Neil Diamond, Barbara Streissand, and classical music. Charlotte loved animals and spent her childhood years with her family’s many pets including horses, cats, and dogs. She had a special knack for creating a sense of magic for the children in the Geer family. Her infamous family Christmas Eve parties will be forever treasured. 

Charlotte is survived by her beloved daughter, Amy Lynn Morey; her mother, Barbara Bitgood Geer; brothers Tom and Richard Geer; her goddaughter, Christine Geer; as well as many adored nieces, nephews, and friends. She is predeceased by her sister, Holly Wolf, and father, H. David Geer.

Calling hours will be held at Gagne Piechowski Funeral Home on Thursday, February 6th from 5:00-7:00 pm. A private funeral service will be held for immediate family members and close friends.
