Chad Darryl Deroy

Chad Darryl Deroy, 51, of Glasgo Road passed away in the home he built on December 12, 2022 after a courageous 3 year battle with ALS. 

He was born February 24, 1971 in Norwich, CT son to Aleta (Baron) Deroy of Arkansas and the late Philip Deroy.  

Chad and Arlene (Veloce) Deroy met at Alfred University in October of 1992 and started an incredible journey together.  On November 16, 1996 they were married.  She Survives him.

Chad worked for 25 years on lithium-ion batteries for Eagle Picher, completing projects for organizations like NASA and Lockheed Martin. He was proud to watch his batteries be launched into space for the Juno Satellite and OSIRIS-REx missions.

Some of Chad’s passions include caring for honeybees, brewing his own beer, using his smoker to craft specialties such as ribs and pulled pork, supporting the New England Revolution, and working on his numerous projects around the house.  Chad was at his happiest watching his children at everything they did.                          

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his three children Tienna Deroy, Chad J. Deroy and Kyra Deroy, numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.  

In lieu of flowers, Chad and family would like to make a large impact on these two organizations that helped them so much over the past 3 years.  Donations can be made in his memory to The LiveLikeLou Foundation and Compassionate Care ALS. 

Calling hours will be held 5:00-7:00PM Friday, December 16, 2022 at the Gagne Piechowski Funeral Home 490 Voluntown Road Jewett City, CT.  A Memorial Service will be held 3:00PM, Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Preston City Congregational Church, Preston, CT.
