Catherine M. (Rohan) Harrelle

Catherine “Cathy” M. (Rohan) Harrelle, 67, of Canterbury, passed away at William W. Backus Hospital, on Friday September 8, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Cathy was born in Windham, CT on July 31, 1956, daughter to the late Robert Rohan and Judith (Johnson) Rohan.

    In the late 1970’s, Cathy met the love of her life, Theodore “Teddy” Harrelle at The Bach Dor Cafe.  They had a love story for the books.  They went on to get married on August 22nd, 1981 and began to build their lives from there.  They bought land in Canterbury and built their forever home where they raised 3 amazing boys and were able to watch their grandchildren laugh and play. Cathy was an avid reader and loved being immersed in books.  She loved sitting at the kitchen window watching all of the surrounding nature and animals. She had a love for all animals, especially her cat Mittens. She could carry on a never ending conversation about her love of horses. Her two favorite TV shows to indulge in were Yellowstone and Highlander.  To much of our dismay, her addiction to shopping on Amazon was out of this world.  If she thought we or the kids needed it, it was bought and shipped the same day.  When we think of Cathy we’ll remember she was the happiest to have the entire family together, for her endless kindness, and the love she had for each of us.

        Cathy is survived by her sons, Jason (Katy), of Griswold, Joshua (Lindsey), of Moosup, and Kevin (Mallory), of Wisconsin, her grandchildren, Brenden Hopkins, Madelyn Hopkins, Lillyanna Salas, Camden Harrelle, and Joshua Harrelle Jr. Cathy is also survived by her brothers, Robert “Buddy” (Jeanette) Rohan, Michael Rohan, and sister Marilyn Rohan,  her brother-in-laws,  Rene, of Florida,  Richie (Sally), of Griswold, Norman (Missy), of Lisbon, Bobby, of Griswold, plus many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her husband Theodore “Teddy” Harrelle, brother in-law Larry (Fran) Harrelle, and her long-time best friend Joanne ”Aunty Jo” Sylvestre, which we are all sure that they are popping bottles of Asti as we speak.

    Calling hours will be held from 5-7PM, Thursday, September 14, 2023, at the Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home 490 Voluntown Road Jewett City, CT, who has been entrusted with the arrangements.
