Carol Ann (Meskiewicz) Roy

Carol Ann (Meskiewicz) Roy, 79 of Ledyard, CT passed into the presence of Jesus Christ Tuesday, December 20, 2022.  She was surrounded by her loving family.

Carol was born in 1943 in Pachaug, Connecticut and grew up in the Pachaug/Griswold area.   Upon graduation from Windham Regional Technical School in 1969 with her LPN, Carol began her nursing career at Windham Community Memorial Hospital. 

Carol was a compassionate and courageous woman, always available to friends and family.  She was also a fighter.  Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 27, she never let it slow her down.  While raising a family of girls, working full time and battling this awful disease, she pressed on and fought through all her difficulties and trials.  A lover of Jesus, she grew much closer to Him in her trials later in life.

Carol enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening and traveling, among many other things.  Adventures in Alaska, Florida, camping and cruises brought her great joy.  Carol and her husband, Richard, enjoyed many winters as “snowbirds” in Florida.  It was there that she found great pleasure in boating, beaching, and golfing. Above all else, Carol loved spending time with her dogs over the years. 

Carol is survived by her beloved husband, Richard, her 6 daughters, Cheryl (Todd) Jackson, Debbie (Wes) Gunter, Lynda (Jim) McAuliffe, Lisa (Michael) McGee, Darcie (Dan) Flight and Denise Roy, 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, special friends, and her cherished dog, Sebastian.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Olga Meskiewicz and her brother, Tommy Meskiewicz.

Calling hours will be held at Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home, 490 Voluntown Rd, Jewett City, CT on January 6, 2023, at 10:00am – 11:00am, followed by a short service at 11:00 am.  Burial will be private.
