Carol J Elnicki entered into eternal rest on January 29, 2026 (I say she embarked on her
greatest adventure yet) She was born on December 18, 1947 at Madigan General Hospital in

Step-father George Lucier preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by the love
of her life, her husband of 35 years, Andrew J. Elnicki as well as her oldest son Jefferey P.
Scavoni and her sister Barbara Kuligowski. She is survived by her sons Travis J. Scavoni of

(Elnicki) Smith and her husband Ernest of Pawcatuck, CT. Andrew C. Elnicki and his wife Dawn
of North Scituate, RI, James Elnicki of Griswold, CT and Aimee Elnicki and her partner John
Edmond of Lisbon, CT. Also, Charles Phelps of Plainfield, who Andy and Carol took custody of
as a teen.
In addition, Carol is survived by her sister Marie Rohan of South Hadley, MA, her brother
Lawrence Faust and his wife Andora of Towson, MD, step-sister Victoria Lucier of Waterford,
CT. Carol is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Carol and Andy loved to travel, they traveled all 50 states and rode their motorcycles in many of
them, including Alaska. They both enjoyed Navy Reunions, NASCAR and the company of their
many friends they had across the country. When they weren’t travelling, Carol enjoyed donating
her time and talents to many causes. She was a talented artist and enjoyed doing crafts in her
spare time.
Throughout her life, professionally, she wore many hats, she was a hairdresser, a florist at the
Jewett City Greenhouse, she worked in visual merchandising at the Navy Exchange, she was a
Paramedic, she worked with special needs adults, after retirement, she worked retail at several
different Harley Davidson shops. For many years, both Carol and Andy were volunteer EMT’s
for Griswold Ambulance, and up until her stroke in January of 2025, she served on the Griswold
Recreation Committee.
In the middle of her many careers and raising a family, in 1985 Carol earned her Associates in
Science from Mohegan Community College, and in 1988 she received her Bachelor of Arts from
the University of Connecticut.
Carol wasn’t one to sit still nor was she one to complain. She loved her friends and she loved
her family and she loved to travel. She was the embodiment of the saying “Carpe Diem” which
means seize the day, she made the most of every day that she could. She took great joy in
helping others and making people happy, she was loved by many and will be missed by all
whose life she touched.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Matulaitis Rehabilitation and
Skilled Care who took care of Carol for the past year.
Services and a celebration of life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to hers and Andy's favorite charity,
