Alice Mildred Hewlitt, 93 most recently residing at Apple Rehab in Uncasville, passed away on February 27, 2023. She was a long-time resident of Lisbon. She was born in New London on April 2, 1929, to Eva Maynard and Leslie Gardner.
Alice graduated from Chapman Tech in New London. She married Harold Irving Hewlitt Jr. in 1949 and was married for thirty-eight years before his passing. She resided in Mystic and worked at the Mystic Universal Market as head cashier for many years. She worked as a dietary aide in several places including local nursing homes and Backus Hospital.
She is predeceased by her loving husband Harold Jr, her two sons, Gary Hewlitt and Harold Hewlitt (Buddy), her brother Leslie Gardner, sisters Evelyn Glynn and Betty Gay, and grandson Robert Howard Jr. She is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Fisher and her husband Rick of Lisbon, Linda Olisky and her husband Rick of Pawcatuck, and Karen Carchidi and her husband Joe of Norwich. Alice is also survived by her sister, Nancy Crandall and brother, William Gardner both of Waterford. She is survived by 11 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Not afraid of new technology, Alice enjoyed keeping up with her large family though Facebook and texting. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was known to be kind and nurturing to everyone.
