In Loving Memory of Alan Bradley Roy
Beloved father, grandfather, friend, and light in our lives
Alan Bradley Roy, 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 surrounded by the love of his family. Though his absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled, the warmth of his spirit and the strength of his love will continue to live on in all who knew him.
Born on March 3, 1941, in Norwich, Connecticut, Alan lived a life defined by quiet strength, gentle humor, and deep compassion. He had a rare gift for making others feel truly seen and valued a quiet wisdom that left a lasting impression without ever needing to raise its voice.
Alan wore many hats throughout his life: a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, a trusted friend. He brought grace, humility, and unwavering care to each role. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures a warm cup of coffee at sunrise, a walk outdoors, a good story, a day spent fishing, or a shared laugh around the table. He had a craftsman’s heart and a helper’s hands, always ready to build, fix, or create something for someone he loved.
Alan worked for many years as a welder at Electric Boat, where he was known not only for his skill and craftsmanship but for his patience and dedication. But the true legacy of his life isn’t found in his profession it’s in the quiet acts of kindness he offered, the people he lifted up, and the love he gave without condition.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rae Dallas Roy; his children, David Roy and Sara Northup; his son-in-law, Thomas E. Northup Jr.; and his grandchildren: Carl Roy, Bryan Roy, Allison Northup, Thomas A. Northup, and Tayla Northup. He is also survived by his siblings, Caroline Quinley, Loretta Bordeleau, and Robert Roy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as his lifelong friends, all of whom carry his memory in their hearts.
Alan is now reunited with his mother Ethel Roy and father Joseph August Roy and his siblings John Roy, Marian Brown,George Roy, Norma Hinse.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal memorial service. A private family gathering will be held to honor his life.
To have known Alan was to know true kindness. To have been loved by him was a gift beyond measure. He will be deeply missed—and remembered every time we choose patience over anger, love over indifference, and quiet goodness in the face of hardship.
