Edward Joseph Dumas of Griswold, CT passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday September 7, 2021.

He was born November 8,1951 to Clarence and Evelyn (Sigrist) Dumas.

Ed is survived by his daughter, Katie Dumas of Lisbon, sons Andrew Dumas of Preston, and Adam Dumas of Jewett City, his brothers Gregory Dumas of Monson, MA, and Roger Dumas of Danielson.

Ed was a devoted grandfather to two grandsons, Evan Dumas and Haden Sauer. He was “Grandpa Ed” to Joshua and Jayla.

Ed attended Griswold schools where he lived most of his life.

Ed was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1971 and completed basic training in Ft. Dix, New Jersey.    He then attended and graduated from Ft. Monmouth Signal School.  His parents were extremely proud when they received a letter from his Commanding Officer that due to high testing scores, He was being recommended to attend West Point.  Ed had other dreams and was stationed in Seoul, South Korea, where he maintained a satellite station on top of a mountain in Taegu.  He was honorably discharged in 1973.

Ed worked in the construction field all of his life and eventually started his own business.  He taught his sons, Andrew and Adam, all aspects of the trade working side by side with them for several years.  He made many friends along the way and was well-respected in the field.

Ed was an outdoorsman who through his years enjoyed rock climbing, ice climbing, and  hiking mountains of New Hampshire. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing, and anything involving the outdoors and spent many special nights with his daughter, Katie looking up at the stars and talking about nature, the universe, and discussing unanswerable questions about life. Ed was an avid Patriots, Red Sox, and Nascar fan. He also enjoyed attending local racing with his son, Andrew. In his younger years he was an avid racer, having built a jeep and racing hill climbs and drag races throughout New England. He and his son, Adam shared a special bond always working on a vehicle. My sympathy goes out to the Dumas family . I had the pleasure of working with Ed in the building industry. I enjoyed every second of the talks we had between personal and work.

Knew Eddie back in the good old days for Griswold schools. He was fun loving back then. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
