It is with great sadness that the family of Anthony Michael Burgess announces his unexpected passing due to a motorcycle accident on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at the age of 26 years.
He was born in Windham, CT on February 19, 1993, son of Michael Burgess of Jewett City and mother Stephanie Hart.
Anthony worked as a Electronics Tech Aid working in the Ships Control and monitoring department at Electric Boat in Groton, CT.
As many know, Anthony was the light in so many people’s world. All who knew Anthony knew he was truly a genuine man of integrity, kindness and sincerity. Anthony truly was an example of how generosity and kindness made the world a better place. He would take the time to assist anyone and any creature in need. He did this daily and without the expectation of receiving something in return. We will forever be proud of the father he was to his son Benjamin and the life he and Katlynn built together as they grew up together and became a family. He loved his family, his bikes, his guns, his animals and his car. Anthony had a passion for life. He was an avid collector of DC shoes, Johnny Cash music, and Zippo lighters, Dale Earnhardt, Elmo and the Minions.
Anthony will be forever remembered by his parents, Michael and Allyson Burgess, mother Stephanie Hart, fiancé and best friend Katlynn (Kate) Allen of Plainfield, son Benjamin Matthew Burgess, brothers Michael Burgess and Colt Burgess and his sister Kristina Gauthier. His is also survived by his grandparents, aunts, uncles, niece, cousins and extended family. Anthony will also be forever remembered by the many who were fortunate to call him a friend including Brendan Brehant(close friend). He is predeceased by his paternal grandfather Edward Abbott.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at the Gange-Piechowski Funeral Home 490 Voluntown Road, Jewett City, CT. In lieu of flowers, for those who may desire, memorial donations can be made to the go fund me page set up to assist Katylnn and Benjamin with future expenses at gofundme.com Anthony Burgess Donation fund.
