Preston- Willie Monroe Taylor Sr., 91, of Preston passed away peacefully on Aug. 5, 2018 at the Three Rivers Healthcare facility in Norwich.   He was born June 14, 1927 in Albertsville, Alabama a son to the late William Jackson Taylor and Ida Belle (Baker) Taylor.  He was the youngest of 13 children and was married to Ellen Ruth (Wallburger) Taylor all who predeceased him.
Willie was a veteran of the United States Navy serving honorably for 22 years before retiring.  He went on to have a “second career” in the electrical generation industry, most notably helping to pioneer waste-to-energy technology in the 1970’s.
He is survived by his four children Ruth Taylor, Willie Taylor Jr., (Carol Taylor), Judy Taylor, and Jim Taylor (Lisa Taylor); and his five grandchildren Caitlin Taylor, Elisabeth Taylor, Evan Taylor, (Yoshiko Yarnell), Jennalise Eiswerth, (Evan Eiswerth), and Victoria Taylor.
There will be a funeral service held on Friday August 17, 2018 at 10:00am at the First Congregational Church in Griswold, CT followed by a private interment, with military honors, within the Palmer Cemetery in Preston.  There are no calling hours.   For online condolences please go to www.gagnepiechowski.com

It was a privilege knowing Willie. He was a genuinely nice, good person...I enjoyed going to the Conn. Sun games with him and arguing on the way back home about who played well and who didn't...Travel well, Willie...
