Griswold – Richard G. Treadway Sr., 81, of Griswold, passed away peacefully on Wednesday Aug. 8, 2018 at Greentree Manor in Waterford, CT.
Richard was born in Eugene, OR, a son to the late Gladys (Griswold) and Nelson Treadway.
Richard earned his Master's degree from Eastern Connecticut State University.  He retired from Norwich State Hospital as a graphic artist and received an Honorable Discharge from the Marine Corps reserves.  
He was an avid reader and was very proud of his extensive personal library.  He had many and varied interests including crossword puzzles, painting, lighthouses, poetry and collecting Wonder Woman memorabilia.  He enjoyed movies and learning about them and the actors his favorites were John Wayne and Lynda Carter who he met in person.  He also loved Elvis and Olivia Newton-John.
Richard is survived by his son Richard Treadway, Jr. and daughter Melody Treadway.  His brother Dale Treadway and wife Alayne.  Niece Marie Treadway and husband Steve Mitchell.  Nephew Dale Treadway. Nephew Lee Treadway and wife Nancy, Niece Lynn and husband Sandy Matthews.
He was predeceased by his brother Nelson Treadway.
There will be a funeral service held at the Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home on Monday Aug. 13, 2018 at 11AM with a burial and graveside service to follow within the Pachaug Cemetery in Griswold.   For online condolences please go to www.gagnepiechowski.com
