Griswold – Frank J. Hirst, 75, of Griswold passed away at home on Wednesday June 13, 2018.
He was born in Plainfield, CT on July 26, 1942, a son to the late Frances D. (Harrington) and Frank F. Hirst.  He was predeceased in 2008 by his wife Joy (Zatorski) Hirst.
Frank was a hardworking and proud Dairy Farmer. He actively worked on his family farm his entire life. Frank was a dedicated Cleveland Browns and Yankees fan, but nothing meant more to him than parking his truck at the local ball fields and catching his granddaughter and grandsons play ball. To some he was Frank, to others “Grampy” or Dad, but everyone who knew him could agree that he was an honest man with incredible character. If you needed a helping hand, you knew this man was one you could depend on.
Frank is survived by his children Frank R. Hirst and Kylie A. Hirst; sisters Beverly Salisbury and Judith Zatorski; grandchildren Kacee, Frank, Kaegan and Kennedy.
Family and friends can gather for calling hours on Thursday June 21, 2018 from 5:00-7:00PM at the Gagne Piechowski Funeral Home 490 Voluntown Road Jewett City, CT.  Burial is private and at convenience of the family.   For online condolences please go to www.gagnepiechowski.com

So sorry to learn of your father's passing. Glad I got to see him while at the nursing home. He and his brother, Butch, were my only 2 male cousins and we celebrated many holidays together.

I will see you at the wake.

My sincere condolences to all of his family.

Kylie, Frank and family,
Your dad, Frankie, has been a farm family friend for as long as I can remember. My father, Harold Wheeler, held Frank in high regard. Frank WAS a hard-working guy and always ready to help others. My husband, Chris, and your dad had many conversations about old cars, motors and other mechanical things. I hope they are together now talking about restoring some old vehicle.
Thinking of you,
Carol Palonen

To the Hirst Family and Judy Zatorski So sorry to to hear of Frankie’s passing. We have known Frankie for a long time . One particular time I remember him for his knowledge of Ford vehicles . Had trouble with my truck transmission took it over to Frankie to check it out for me he had it taken care of in 20 minutes .
